Companies that value design have a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Fast Company highlights a new analysis by the Design Management Institute of Boston which shows that design-driven businesses have outperformed the S&P by 228% over the past 10 years. This echoes a report published in 2007 by Design Council, a UK design think tank. This fact-finding report found that design-led businesses have outperformed the FTSE 100 by more than 200%. Both of these reports provide evidence that businesses that add value through design see a greater impact on business performance than the rest.
Now we have two compelling studies, conducted in two different countries, which show a very similar conclusion. So now the question… how much does your organization value design and can investing in design be a competitive differentiator?
