Design inspiration with a Bauhaus lineage.
This napkin ring was inspired by the brise soleil of the American Federal Building, located in Orlando, Florida. The building was designed by architect Frank Sheehy, while working for Bob Murphy, who studied under Walter Gropius, founder of Bauhaus and one of the pioneering masters of modern architecture. This architecturally significant building has since been demolished to accommodate Orlando's Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Fortunately, the 120 precast brise soleil panels were salvaged from the building before they were destroyed.
